Roy McKenzie

4 Bulls Meats, Seafood, & Deli owner Roy McKenzie grew up around cattle working for his great-grandfather’s grocery store. Proprietor, butcher, and smoked-meats procurer, his great-grandfather apprenticed Roy in the business of selling groceries, butchering cattle, chicken and pork, smoking meat, and making sausage and jerky. Daily butchering for the store, Roy began his career producing outstanding meat products from his youth. Passion for butchery led Roy to complete a Bachelor’s in Meat Science followed by a career in the grocery industry, where his work ethic advanced him to Market Manager by the time he could drink and Meat/Seafood Director of Operations for the Mid-West and Rocky Mountain Divisions by the time he turned 30.
Twenty seven years later, McKenzie shifted his focus to run meat programs for three independent North Dakota grocers served by SuperValu Inc., now known as UNFI. His effort to shift their meat programs to Angus Farms Beef in 2012 garnered attention of SuperValu corporate and Cargill Meat Solutions Co., and merited him back-to-back National Beef Stampede Awards in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. Though he placed 2nd in 2019, he is the first person to win back-to-back since the NBS inception in the 1990’s.
In 2016, Roy’s dream for a full-service butchery of his own — where his love and passion for high quality meat meets exceptional customer satisfaction — began its search for the right location. Balancing his desire to be near family, he and his partner opened 4 Bulls in May 2020 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and offer customers a wide array of meats previously unavailable to the central Gulf Coast.
McKenzie credits Gerri Legget — his partner in life and in business – for encouraging and supporting his passion for custom meats and the opening of his dream butchery shoppe. As products fly off the shelves for new and an upswelling of repeat customers, Roy and Gerri run this family-owned business with pride and integrity. They can’t wait to meet you!
